This weekend, 10 Soling competed together with 11 Knarr in a joint summer regatta in the inner part of Oslo Fjord. Six races were completed, four on Saturday and two on Sunday. The very changing wind conditions could potentially create a messy race course, but this writer a Soling enthusiast at the KNS, is happy on how the organizer handled this.

The KNS showed that they were really teased, and changed the courses as needed the feedback from the sailors was quite positive, they were impressed and very happy. The arrangement was wonderfully good, seamless, and very tight. All the best to everyone at KNS professionals at their functions.

The superb Southern sailors
At the Soling class a fantastic victory by the southern team NOR 14 with Lars Ingeberg (Grimstad SF), Bjørn Johansen (Arendals SF) and Alf Larsen (Grimstad SF), who won all their six races, in second place went to Jens Petter Andresen (Tønsberg SF) and Kjell Arne Haakonsen (Åsgårdstrand SF), while the third place went to Hans Petter Jostad (KNS), Marius Mathisen Søvik (Asker SF) and Karl Henrik Mokkelbost (Asker SF).

The summer regatta was originally scheduled to be the Norwegian Championship for the Soling and Knarr. However, the infection control restrictions at the crossroads of regions, in addition to an outbreak in Tønsberg the week before the regatta, made it not possible to hold a Soling Norwegian Championship.

That the Soling fleet is growing steadily after he purchased two boats in 2020. Now in 2021, the club has doubled to four boats, plus one Soling on Nesøya and one on Blommenholm.

The hope is to get even more boats in the Inner Oslo Fjord, so we can have our own pool in a regular regatta. Now we practice every Wednesday and arrange our own regatta, to tease crews and boats.

My role is to build on the Soling fleet at KNS, but also include all boats in the local environment around them in the Oslo fjord. This means getting several good Soling sailors, as well as recruiting crews for these.

I also have the aim to get 1-2 boats into international championships abroad. Otherwise, I will try to prioritize my own crew and boat to increase my own competence.
The successful regatta this weekend has hopefully laid a good foundation for the growing of the Soling class.

I really hope we can repeat this. I would also like to add that we have a Linge Memorial Soling NM 2022, which will be held next autumn.
