Weight check at the boats wihtout the ByPass

Monday started slow at te Grimstad fjord, a time set for 0930 in the morning ended to be 1000-1030, it reminded all about Italian moments. The good thing, no rain, not much wind, sun many times in the day, but some clouds showing that a front is coming, which will make tomorrow a worse day for doing the checkups.

The parking lot for inspection area were already full of outsiders, luckily many of them with the ByPass possibility which would release the pressure from the technical committee checking all boats and sails. Boats which sailed the Norwegian Championship went back and were hauled to proceed with full inspection, most local boats that did not have the ByPass.

The station related to the sails were relief when last team of the event showed off to inspect their sails, the last one of the days and they were proud by managing to check all 120 sails, only a few minor issues and a team missing to pay their sail labels to their entire set of sails, solved mainly because class officers were present with the labels in hand ready to be used, amongst the issues of today inspection, as usual when a old boat show up, the spinnaker pole is a little bit long, and the team has to engineer cutting the ends to conform, besides that a few masts by changing to Dyneema backstay, now has to add weight on top of the mast, not a wise idea making the change.

On Wednesday the international fleet will sail again, many had the opportunity to test the race course over the weekend during the Norwegian Championship, which already gave us names to watch out from multiple World titles in different classes, to Olympic medals and participation 8 countries from two continents will be contesting the Oldest trophy of the Soling Class, yes before a World Championship it came an European Championship in July of 1969 won by Swedish S 21 helmed by Arve von Grunewaldt, the very same year Paul Elvstrom was crowned in Denmark for the Worlds a month later.

Tomorrow the registration office opens to receive all inspection forms, finalize details of registration, like boat insurance, membership cards to be shown to the regatta office, etc.
