The Technical team and volunteers from the BYC have done an exhaustive job on Saturday a preparation day and today the first official inspection day.
In a single indoors area located about 2km away from the Yacht Club, everything is set at perfect conditions to fully inspect the Solings taking part at the World Championship, a crane waits outside to splash the beauty in the water.
The progress was amazing despite some confusion where to go next, where to drop the boat in the water, where to store the trailers, etc: a very common problem seen on every event of the class that escapes the organization hands or regulations of the class.
By half of the day, adding to the sail dimensions issues detected on the previous day, lighter boats were detected as well, a reminder that these inspections should be done regularly. These to compete then needs to add corrector weights and a new certificate to be issued with the new correctors for future events, etc.
20+ boats have finished their inspection some extra already started one step from many. Inside the inspection area, Masts and spars on the left, right beside the crane with scale to weight the boat, where also templates are checked , safety items, and at the back a nicely done table to check all sails, remember the Soling can present a Mainsail, two jibs and two spinnakers.
The BYC : Balatonfured Yacht Club has been under great improvements lately, presenting a new space under roof for 100+ sailors to enjoy their snacks, beer pre and after races protected from any possible rain and super close to the boats, a hotel right close to the entrance, a great mooring area and a renovated club house.
The weather so far threating sailors like summer, with a sun shining and warm temperatures, but for Monday and the first racing day on Tuesday strong winds are forecasted, although the region is famous for quick changing conditions, that adapt nicely to the famous green waters, a green caused by Algies in the water.
Tomorrow the remaining boats will go through inspection, while many already will be practicing across the lake.
