In his home waters, Cicero, Frederico and Regis didn't have to sail the last race of the event.
The last course was a 3-lap racecourse with a stronger minuano that veered to the east. Steady 20 knots with gusts reaching 28, not all boats started, and few also didn't finish, the downwind gusts at some point required the backstay to be cleated in two cleats to avoid slipping.
BRA 78 (Nelson Ilha, Manfredo Floricke and Leonardo Mayrhofer) leading the race from the start only suffered the attack from a hot USA 853 (Collins, Celedoni and Siegel) who couldn't keep up after rounding the second upwind second close to the Equilibrium boat stern. By choosing the wrong gate, ARG 32 sailed by Gustavo Warburg, Hernan Celedoni and Raul Viola together with BRA 73 team (Carioba Alumnasa) sailed with Kadu Bergenthal, Vilnei Goldmeier and Edgar Oppitz just crossed their nose, anyway more wrong corners allowed CAN 225 with Peter Hall, Gustavo Ilha and William Hall to also pass them at the last windward mark.
These finishes changed the podium where BRA 78 managed to get the second place and BRA 73 ended up in third place, fourth it came the CAN 225 and in fifth team Process Solutions HUN 11 with Litkey Farkas, Karoly Vezer and Kristoff Wossala.
It was a great sailing week, social atmosphere at the Veleiros do Sul, sailors had wonderful races, with great management on the water, and enough wind as always, but the locals showed their strength and claimed their status in the Soling Class. Money may not allow many to travel to other international events but their quality a consequence from an active effort from the Veleiros Du Sul Yacht club to promote talent, technique and competition at the highest levels from youth to the senior, including the Soling class, where there are many masters around.
At the prize giving the Austrian team headed by Elena Strauch, Hanna Neumuller and Henry Thomas were called to receive the Tony Clare trophy.
The KC1 Classic prize was won by BRA 34 with Carlo de Leo, Thiago Knippling and Gustavo Bohrer.
The Lucio Glomb trophy was awarded to the best South American team was given to BRA 86 Cicero Hartmann, Frederico Sidou who also won the Masters trophy.
The Grand Masters bowl was awarded to BRA 78 Nelson Ilha, Manfredo Floricke and Leonardo Mayrhofer.
The Soling class thanks the VDS for their work at this event and hope to see all the international sailors in Hungary for the 2026 Worlds at Balaton.
