An incredible day, with fantastic sailing, steady strong winds with lots of discussions about the intensity, but the general agreement was around 18 to 28 knots with strong gusts throughout the first and second race.
The famous minuano, a condition well known by the local sailors, who ended to crown the team Don't Let me down BRA 86 sailed by Cicero Hartmann, Frederico Sidou and Regis Silva. Today the champion team managed to come from behind from both races and finish second at both races granting them the victory at the championship with anticipation, so tomorrow they discard the race and wait to see how the podium will be completed.
4 teams strongly contest for the remaining two spots at the podium, they are BRA 73 (Kadu Bergenthal, Vilnei Goldmeier and Edgar Oppitz) who obtained a redress today after being hit in a rounding mark and making a nice hole at the hull quick provisory fix was made during the day to race tomorrow by an Alumnasa profile, with the objective to remain in second.
Team Equilibrium BRA 78 (Nelson Ilha, Manfredo Floricke and Leo Mayrhofer) follow right below by less than a point, they achieved the bullet on the first race but then a 6th, CAN 225 (Peter Hall, Gustavo Ilha and William Hall) had a second and then a 5th leaving them only 3 points behind the fight but 6 points ahead of team Process Solutions HUN 11 (Litkey Faskas, Karoly Vezer and Kristoff Wossala) who had a 4th and a bullet on the last race.
The heavy wind was not hard enough to scare the Soling sailors, despite a sunny Saturday but difficult wind conditions, the Soling was the only sailboat out sailing together with the optimists. There were teams who just joined together and without any training and some even without much sailing and advanced age could handle the boat without the need of reefing, just hard hiking and sailing well, to enjoy the surfing on the downwind legs.
Tomorrow the event supported by Cave Poseidon & Kwindoo will conclude with the last race of the championship, and it will mark a new era for the Veleiros do Sul, who just finished their club and infrastructure restauration for this event after the terrible floodings suffered last year which left the club under the water.
