Virginie Hériot is the first French woman to win an Olympic medal; this happened in 1928 at the Amsterdam Games.
The Société des Régates du Havre (SRH) has honored her memory for years with this challenge, which brings together sport keelboats and traditional sailboats.
This 2025, four Soling teams joined the celebrations, including two Dutch, NED 33 (Rudy Den Outer, Ramzi Souli, and Theo De Lange) and NED 44 (Bram Soedhoudt, Sjors Aensberg, and Gavin Lidlow), and two French, FRA 208 (Marc Lefèvre, Claude Legond, and Alessandro Boldini) and FRA 164 (François Gombeaud, Christian Dousset, and François Castagnet).
The conditions were perfectly aligned for a great regatta, as the wind and sun were there for the three days and seven races; after a relatively calm first day despite a residual swell, the following two days were marked by the opposite situation: 20 to 25 knots on a fairly flat sea.
At the end of this beautiful weekend, Rudy and his crew finally achieved the goal he had announced, not without humor, during the crew dinner: - to bring the trophy won by Virginie Hériot back to the Netherlands .
We hope to meet again next year, perhaps with some neighboring crews (British, German, and others)!
