Attersee once more surprised its competitors, and from 8 races scheduled, 7 were contested, conditions kept changing and the competitive competition began with a race on Friday. On Saturday, Lake Attersee showed its tough side for the sailors: three challenging races in 9-10 knots and strongly shifting winds made anything possible. Thus, the required four races for the Austrian and Hungarian National Championships were already completed on the second day. On Sunday, the wind was at its best, allowing for another three races – this time without much shifting, ending the event in great motion, even with white caps at the lake to a farewell to all sailors, yes like on a Zipfer beer glass, fresh and foamy ready to be enjoyed. Thing all teams did all over the three-day competition at the Zipfer bar in front of the UYCAs main club house every time it was possible despite the tight schedule.
A side note to mention that this long-time sponsorship by Zipfer has ensured a permanent place of this trophy in the international sailing calendar at Lake Attersee. This all accomplished by remarkable organization and dedication, a perfect team up in between a brand, a yacht club and its club members and off course the response from more than 80 sailors in average during the past 20 years, most traveling from different corners dreaming to face and sail the famous Rosenwind, and its “banana” curve all over the race course.
GER 339 the German defending champion team of Donald Lippert from the Yacht Club Berlin Grünau, Tim Giesecke (VSaW), and Carsten Fischer (VSaW) emerged as the clear overall winners, securing the Zipfer Trophy again.
The Austrian teams followed. Second overall and Austrian National Champions were PROFs team AUT 114 Christian Binder (YCBb) / Christian Feichtinger (SCE) / Franz Fellner (YCBb).
The Austrians finished second in the races, but finishing second in the Austrian National Championships and third overall, AUT 7 with Florian Felzmann (SCK), Michael Felzmann (SCK), and Stephan Beurle (SCK). The bronze medals at the Austrian National Championships went to AUT 100 with Christian Spießberger (SCA), Gerhard Schlipfinger (SCA), and Maximilian Reisinger (SCA).
It is worth noting the relatively high participation of women for a keelboat regatta. Anna Krömke (VSaW) from the Berlin team, skippered by Frederike Westphalen (VSaW) and Carolin Schaaff, emerged as the best bowwoman in the field and won the Gundel Cup.
This 2025 past edition had 33 Soling teams from three different nations at the Union Yacht Club Attersee. In addition to the Austrian sailors, 14 German crews and a team from the USA also took part.
The Zipfer Trophy for 2026 is already set in the class calendar August 20 to 23.
