AP was raised under a shine sun behind some clouds moving over Attersee once master event chairman Ludwig Beurle finished his traditional opening speech to the 33 teams competing at the Zipfer Trophy, an impressive number above the 27 entries average over 20 editions of the event that didn't even stop during the Pandemia and had its highlight on 2018 with 38 entries and 7 editions ranging similar numbers as the current one. Probably the highest number in the class for the year of 2025, showing that the personal and individual commitment of some Soling lovers is fundamental organizing such events, such nice fleet also happened at the US Championship held in Annapolis, and the German Championship held in Leipzig for the first time.
Teams waited for a while some went out to test the usual morning and cloudy shifts of the lake specially when wind comes from the Attersee am Attersee valley other kept waiting at the UYCAs terrace, and around 2 pm all boats were at the race course.
The first race started with a light north west winds getting lower and shifting to the left at the start favoring those who chose the pin end, conditions for speciallists coming from the north the Berliner team from YCBG-VSaW that have been drawing attention during the season took their first bullet GER 339 (Donald Lippert, Tim Giesecke and Carsten Fischer) they were followed close by the Leipzig HTWK team GER 224 with Leo Bergk, Timo Friedrich and Alex Hahn and in third came the PROFs team AUT 114 with Christian Binder, Christian Feitchinger and Frank Fellner they were followed close by ) local Attersee AUT 400 (Bernhard Klingler, Bjorn Gillhofer and Julius Klingler) and then double World champion GER 1 sailing with super local sailors (Roman Koch, Xaver Seydl and Matthias Puxkandl).
Right after the race finish AP was up again. After a while the day was abandoned and sailors were sailing back to the harbor in order to get some bretljause, a traditional Austrian dish with bread and cheese served with warm meat.
Amongst all young sailors sailing this traditional Zipfer Trophy the one has two teams that comes from Leipzig, built around the regatta sailing program of the HTWK (Hochschule fur Technik, Wirtschaft und Kultur). The university mainly focused on technical careers in conjunction with the Club Nautique based at Cospudem lake started a successful program for students and former graduates focused not only on learning but also racing and have found the Soling. They are contesting Youngs coming from traditional Yacht Clubs like the VSaW in Berlin or SCK, UYCAs in Austria that also present their fresh blood that have most likely broader experience in different boats.
