A complete different wind blew right in front of the Portsmouth Olympic Harbor, this time coming from the South, it was light breeze that allowed the Solings start their racing right went it was scheduled (1100 hs. ), the start had CAN 233 with Tom Freeman, Dave Valdestra and Steve Donker returning to clear their early start and shooting to the right side of the course, while the fleet battle in the middle left section of the course, despite CAN 1 with Bill Abbott, Joanne Abbott and Matthew Godfrey finally pulling away from the pack, but only rounding behind CAN 233, the race looks liked controlled at this point but at the downwind leg the wind softens too much and moves to the right side of the course (looking upwind), the RC makes a call for a course change, the new mark a small green buoy surrounded by green land all around was invisible for the sailors, and it was not really moved to the wind change perfectly. All boats overstood the one and the worst ended to USA 853 almost shooting the spinnaker to reach back the new mark. CAN 225 Peter Hall, Bruce Empey and Will Franklin-Thorphe did their move to jump in first and finish that way, CAN 1 managed to keep his second place in the race, and CAN 230 Ross Findlater, John McNeil and Gord Devries got to pass CAN 233 and finish third, leaving CAN 233 with empty hands at this first race.

After a postponement waiting for Etchells do their rounding, the second race started with a bit more wind and a bit more to the Southwest; CAN 1, CAN 230 and CAN 255 were in fierce battle they rounded the windward mark followed by the rest of boats, they all sailed without knowing what was coming after the rounding, for some the droplets started at the end of the downwind, but right after the rounding the wind went a bit more to the right and increased to 15 to 17 knots with a side dish a heavy rain wall, thick enough to prevent sailors from seeing the green coast of the island. The four first boats kept their standings but the last three shake positions sending USA 852 from 5th to last and moving CAN 233 from last to 5th.

The Canadians continue to dominate, but now a valid North American Championship that will have two more races tomorrow and two races on Sunday. On the social, Saturday there will be the championship dinner at the Kingston Yacht Club (19:00hs) .
