The third racing day started once more with a fantastic blue sky. The forecast indicated the South wind so called “Breva”, and sailors after an unforgettable evening full filled with ASADO made by the South Americans under the crane of the Yacht Club, rinsed with beer and wine had all high spirits and were eager to go out racing... only at the third attempt the Race Officer could calm down the competitors and do a proper start, all other try outs returned in a general recall. But the even so, some Solings were OCS, too much energy provided by the “ASADO” – the grill master thanks the help of Stefano Martin and Alex Hasenclever, crews on GER 1 and USA 1.

The first race had 8 to 12 knots, boats that chose to start at the pin got tangled under the Mandello del Lario point with less wind and weird shifts losing heavily, although the whole race it was better to be on the left side of the course responding first to the gusts that came down the mountains with lifts and wind increase that allowed perfect hiking.
NOR 131 (Nergaard, Barne & Solli-Saether) took the lead not to lose despite the fight was close to HUN 1 (Varjas, Vezer & Meretei) and in third with all the lake experience AUT 7 (Felzmann, Beurle & Felzmann).

The second race, had a clean start , soon it was clear that those that started in the middle of the line and had opportunity to avoid the Mandello del Lario point were the ones at least having better wind, and after some intense tacking on the first 400 mts there were 4 teams clear fighting SLO 1 (Antoncic, Strakh & Strahovnik), NOR 131 , NOR 141 (Austfjord, Flo & Faerre Flo) and USA 853 (Collins, Baumueller & Mueller) , this last who made the last long tack to the left caught the best wind coming down the slopes, helping to point and go faster, to manage at the end of the first beat to round first, followed by SLO 1, NOR 131 and NOR 141, at the downwind at some point USA 853 chose to jibe and sail a bit more far from the coast, then when wind veered and droped they jibed back to have behind but in the inside SLO 1 and behind NOR 131, NOR 141 and more boats, the rounding mark (right one) went smoothly and USA 853 was the boat that went closer to the coast in a passive mode covering SLO 1 that rounded second. The whole beat upwind was a duel of tacks like the old days, USA 853 extended the lead to round again in first and not lose their bullet, the third bullet in different consecutive Europeans they had sailed (same crew), something grandchildren will be aware of for sure.

USA 853 was lucky as so far only course number 2 had been selected by the Race Officer, they after rounding the finish and on the upwind to the club managed to cut the forestay (rod 4mm), a third beat would have knocked them, so sail always to the very end.

They were followed by SLO 1 and NOR 131 and NOT 141 a young team that step strong in the class and will grant their first BSA Young helm trophy if no mistakes are made.
AUT 43 (Neumueller, Stauch & Widschwendter) the sensation girls from Austria also are close to secure their Reloaded trophy for the best placed woman.

The Rien segaar trophy the battle still too close, at the present moment Austria and Norway had the best pointing quite close putting the trophy either at hands of AUT 119 (Hoyer, Seidler & Sailor) or NOR 142 (Ingeberg, Johansson & Elvik), all to be decided tomorrow in the last two races of the championship.

Starting time was set for 12:30.
