A different day today at Cospuden Lake where the German Open is being held. Interesting shifts of 20 degrees winds from 6 to 8 knots sometimes with gusts with enough intensity to hike making a difficult racing day.

Race Officer Helfried Haupt managed to place 5 races securing the German open event, at the first race again the fleet divided in two groups, mainly because winds were always on the extremes, left or right, but at the end always would pay one side over the other, the middle of the lake was a no go place. Something is already known just by reading books of former Soling sailor Stuart Walker who dedicated too many chapters on the European lakes. The bullet for the race went to Berliners GER 339 (Donald Lippert, Sven Rikwald and Tim Giesecke), followed close by the Bavarians GER 11 ( Micheal Dietzel, Kilian Schmidt and Maja Haupt) and the wind sniffer GER 308 (Burschi Haist, Martin Zeileis and Irene Haist).

At the second race with same wind patttern was the one GER 1 (Roman Koch, Alex Hasenclever and Valentin Muller) in this pretty light stuff managed to brake the jib tack and the main sheet fixed point at the stern causing them to produce a DNF, this race saw the wind sniffer at his best GER 308 taking his bullet followed by the event sensation GER 339 and the “old school knowledge drinkers” GER 7 (Daniel Diesing, Micheal Witt and Heinrich Schoop).

The third race was the one the wind started to drop, and the finish was a real slow motion situation, many team all close together heading to the finish line, GER 339 grabbed happily his second bullet of the day followed by another Berliner GER 288 (Volker Stoof, Kristian Kuhn and Robert Flach) and in third GER 2 (Christian Mack, Thomas Fabry and Franzisca Meyer).

The fourth race of the day had an interesting start with all boats on port a real slow-motion situation with almost 0 wind speed and then the wind came in slowly. GER 339 took advantage of the situation and shot to win a new bullet followed by Bavarian GER 11 and in third came local team GER 282 (Max Bergk, Frank Reinboth and Christopher Zeidler)
The fifth race was the one there were more hiking times, GER 339 consolidated his leading and probably with great chances to win the 2025 German Open since his discard is a second and only two more races ahead, they were followed by local team GER 224 (Leo Bergk, Timo Friedrich and Alex Hahn).

In all races lots of shouting, protests and so on which lead USA 1 (Herny Thomas, Stephan Schoinfelder and Peter Siegel) to take his turn on race 4. But now lots of protests waiting to be dealt which might alter this article and results later, and for sure the delay the evening anxiously deserved after a great weather and sometimes fantastic sailing when the wind was up f over a flat water, and challenging shifts, which probably increased appetite and drinking needs from the teams that this evening will be hosted at the Brewery Dolden Madel at the Bayersicher Bahnhof.
