After a frustrating start of season in Argentina, where only 1 boat managed to finish a fun long race as barbecue preparation for the night, team ARG 34 sailed by Nacho Padilla(15) with Alejandro C. Moore and Javier Padilla, while other 4 boats were scored DNF including now the two Warburg chiefs father and son sailing at different boats and the question will be who is going to be the sherif at the upcoming season. On Sunday usual windward / leeward races scheduled where abandoned after a 3hs waiting in a nice day fur sunbathing, swimming at the racecourse. The class and club (CNSI) now urge the preparation for the South American Championship to be held over easter where all the new young shots will be attending.
Meanwhile in Annapolis, precisely at the SSA preparations are frenetic, while some organizers are already doing their long-haul trips to pick up boats in Canada for the event that will have participants from Germany, Norway, Canada and US (with the first time a team from Hawaii).
Crossing the atlantic countries such as Italy, Germany and the Netherlands once more are the first nations ready to contest the traditional Rien Segaar(NED) Trophy, donated by the Segaar family “with the intention to award those in the middle fleet who makes the best effort to improve their country scores,” the last of the best, the third team of a country which the aggregate final scores of the three best teams are lower than the other countries at the next 2025 European championship to be held in Mandello del Lario, next end of May. The host Italy, Germany and The Netherlands already have more than three entries the minimum necessary to compete for the Trophy and Italy neighbors from Austria are expected to join in the dispute with two entries amongst the 20 already made from 8 different countries. Also entries for the Soling Europeans at Mandello are in full motion and already have a BSA Young Trophy contester award to a young team in which the aggregate age isn't higher than a 100 and the helmsperson has 35 or lower. Not behind two contesters already signed up for the Reloaded trophy awarded to the best women placed at the event.
A sweet reminder that the event in Mandello until March 26 still have the possibility to the early entry fee discount where a few more teams will for sure take advantage of and hopefully a few more countries manage to challenge for the beautiful Segaar Trophy. Also the teams will have the opportunity to race before the Europeans only 12km away from the venue at the Circolo Vela Bellano during the previous weekend a good opportunity to those traveling from really far away.
