We are the Milwaukee Yacht Club great racing since 1871. It is time once again for the Soling fleet to race the McNulty Cup! The weather is unseasonably warm providing perfect sailing conditions.

Christened an Olympic boat in August of 1968 in Kiel, Germany, the Soling has a strong history here at MYC. We hosted the first official Soling regatta the 1969 North Americans. In June of 1972 we hosted the United States Olympic Trials. MYC's Buddy Melges went on to win the first Olympic Gold Medal in Kiel Germany in 1972. In 1998 52 Solings were here for the Soling World Championships. Thirty countries were represented with more than thirty Olympic medalists present. In 2012 we hosted the Soling Worlds again. The list going on and on. Our McNulty Cup has a 60+ year history here at MYC first with Stars, then 210's, and now Solings.

Read on my friends and I will tell you a wacky tale of superheroes. Commissioner Gordon can always count on them to save the day. But wait what's that up in the sky? It's a bird it's a plane no its Superman! Able to leap a Soling in a single bound. Holy Harken cleats Batman! Has anyone seen Cat woman? She has a purfect Soling. The Bat signal is shining bright. Up up and away! Superman is circling the globe to generate lots of wind. James Bond has been seen walking through the Soling's checking for ISA stickers. They were doing the Bat dance at the Skylark Bar. Everyone was ready for a turbo charged time! Back in the Bat Cave the gleaming white Soling was being polished for maximum speed. Robin had his hiking harness ready. Turbines to speed rockets to power we're ready to move out! Turn up the volume! Who would win the 2022 McNulty Cup? The world may never know… But wait a clue is found. A Soling sailor has a crew that flies like he was Superman! How could this be? It's very simple son. He trained many years on the Bat Boat.

It was early morning that fine day of Friday June 17th. A fine day in flat waters on Lake Michigan with the caped crusaders seen off the shores near the Milwaukee Yacht Club. What was the Joker up to? Riddle me this was it that wonderful feeling knowing that all your best friends are here and it's going to be more fun by the minute? What a Soling paradise! But wait did I see Flash Gordon crank up the wind? Yes! The 2022 McNulty Soling fleet was off to sea. It was a Northwester crawling right each race. When it went left it blew 7 knots when it went right it blew 14 knots. Thanks to Superman the clouds parted. The sun came out. Pressure was building. Pull back those shroud tracks! They were off and race one was under way! It's Ashley Henderson US 832 OCS. Paul McGuan US 834 for a 4th. Dave Baum US 845 gets a 3rd. Tom Elliot US 768 is 2nd. Dave Crysdale is 1st. On last day of the McNulty. The fleet is sailing in smooth water and medium air out of the northwest. It's the Great David Baum US 845 finishing the first race in 1st showing massive speed. This extraordinary fast Soling sailor is a Champion! He took 1st place at the Fall Soling Bowl Championship in Annapolis Maryland last season. Sports history again the Super Cool Dave Baum dominates the fleet. Happy Father Day Mr Dave Baum. He takes a bullet (1st place) in the very next race on the last race of the McNulty Cup.
