Chiemsee welcomed half of the fleet that already arrived soon under a positive weather for the first World Championship to be held in three years, some had the chance to sail on Friday with nice Northwesterly wind, sun and not so cold weather. These sailors know that they might have sailed the best wind…
Saturday the clouds were already in, the temperature dropped considerably, but at least in the morning no rain, about 15 boats completed their full measurement, including the new digital scale provided by the Hungarian Yachting Association, fantastic gesture of class chief measurer Laszlo Hegimegy who together with class IM Jean Pierre Marmier and Thomas Loesch that will be soon class IM and responsible to measure the new Solings made at Peter Liebner's yard.
The measurement is a wrong term used often in the class, as nowadays World Sailing call the procedure event inspection, the one checks that all boats meets the minimum and maximum criteria established in the Class Rules like a boat found about 7 kg lighter and another boat that decided to use a new and fantastic carbon boom that fit under the class rules, but when it became to measure the boat weight the one was 1kg lighter, problem solved going back to the old alu boom.
The inspection procedure will continue Sunday and on Monday, the rain will stay probably for both days, hard work for the sailors who will have to dry their boats before going into the inspection hangar.
The racing starts on Tuesday and goes until Saturday. We hope wind condition will improve and allow all scheduled races for all the 13 different countries taking part at the event and tree continents.
