Dear Soling Sailors,
US borders are still closed to visitors including Canadians, Europeans and South Americans. Covid 19 Delta variant is expanding in the Milwaukee region. Although the Milwaukee Yacht Club is ready to host the 2021 World Championships, the Covid Delta variant appears to be worsening in the USA. The Milwaukee Yacht Club, USSA, the ISA Championship Committee and the ISA Executive unanimously agree to cancel the Worlds for September 2021. The ISA Executive intends to ask the membership at the AGM at the Europeans in early October, to grant the Milwaukee Yacht Club the World Championships in 2023 to celebrate, after the fact, its 150th anniversary.
The United States Soling Association and the Milwaukee Yacht Club have announced they will host the US Championships from September 17 to 19. The original dates of the North American Championship remain the same in late October to be hosted in Annapolis.
In addition, another event was added to the calendar, the Canadian Championship from October 9 to 10 to be held in Montreal.
The ISA thanks the Milwaukee Yacht Club, and the class members Baum and McGuan and the volunteer team for their tireless efforts trying to run the Worlds, first in 2020 and now in 2021, we sincerely hope that 2023 Worlds occur in safe conditions.
Best regards,
ISA Executive
