CAN 225 wins a new North American Championship

Two more races at the Chesapeake Bay under a soft rain, steady 17 degrees Celsius, wind from the Northeast, initially 11 to 13 knots, and then diminishing to 7 to 10 knots but essentially a complicated day with the shifts and the intensity variation thru the gray day.

CAN 225 helmed by Peter Hall sailing with Will Thorpe and local Bruce Empey had a good day to keep their lead overall, finishing with a bullet and then a third, enough to secure the victory over BRA 73 helmed by Kadu Bergenthal sailing with Frederico Sidou and Edgar Oppitz who had another excellent day finishing second at the first race and taking a new bullet home at the last race of day.

In third overall came CAN 230 helmed by Ross Findlater sailing with Gord Devries and John McNeil, they started slow at the championship and keept improving and today a third on the first race and then a second.

The Brazilians were awarded with the Jack Van Dyke trophy for the winner of the red fleet, this because since once the first day ended, they were 10th overall below the cut of the half fleet, which later they improve and manage to finish second.

USA 853 helmed by Henry Thomas sailing with Alex Yakutis and Peter Siegel, 7th overall where the second team of the red fleet. USA 826 helmed by Matias Collins sailing with Will Crane and Charlie Krafft the third one in that fleet.

At the award ceremony Henry Thomas gave a special speech with warm words to the Race Committee and gave the ceremony to LeeAnn Myhre who called all entries and their finishes.

The event had two young entries and a lot of young joining the teams, probably reason why the fleet in Annapolis keeps growing.
