Brazilian come back in a fantastic sail day at the North Americans

It is fall, but the sun hit like summer the wind refreshed, to the first race stil light but better than the first race, kind a similar to the second race of yesterday, by the second race of the day the wind went to the left and increased a bit to some points lead sailors to droop hike others to watch, others to fight with the equipment not ready. It is already a valid Championship and IRO Taran Teague has accomplished all four races with 3 laps, but it was the last one of the day that had the best finish setup.

BRA 73 helmed by Kadu Bergenthal sailing with Frederico Sidou and Edgar Oppitz after spending the whole afternoon of yesterday replacing shrouds that at the end were short, finding solutions just to be able to sail today, were equal fast as the first day achieving a dream day winning the two bullets, even at the last race when on the starting line they fouled USA 676 helmed by Karin Olsen Campia sailing with Peter Grimm and Bill Kitchens, but then they did their penalty to later start fighting at the top after a great recovery on that first run.

At the first race it was Ontario’s lake representative CAN 230 helmed by Ross Findlater sailing with Gord Devries and John McNei the immediate followers to the Brazilians, it was a good day as then they finish third in the second race. The result catapulted them into second overall.

CAN 225 helmed by Peter Hall sailing with Bruce Empey and Will Thorpe also had a good day having a third in the first race and were the immediate follower for the second race of the day, managing to keep their lead overall at the championship.

The fight at the back of the fleet is quite interesting, the same boats keep meeting together at the upwind tacks and then at the downwind, today eventually it paid of a jibe set to keep clear air, difficult to say as the current play important role during both races.

At this North American Championship teams from Canada, Germany, Brazil and USA and from several regions, like USA 148 helmed by Joseph Wilson sailing with Holly Kile and Imran Sourja coming all the way from Hawaii, USA 827 helmed by Josh Lipppitt sailing with Matthew Nelson and Daniel Capperucci or USA 782 helmed by veteran John Walton sailing with Marc Pinckney and Michael Udell coming from San Diego, and finally Batman’s soul mate with the coolest spinnaker USA 824 helmed by David Crysdale sailing with Bill Bresser and JP Shipley from Milwaukee.

Today the fleet had an early start, and teams were back to the docks early enough, this gave plenty of time to shower and prepare for the Championship Dinner, but after the dinner despite three world champions are sailing the event, from Brazil, Canada and Germany, are the Hawaiians who scheduled the friday night for some drinks under a pouring rain at the sailing town of Annapolis, drink here and a drink there it came the phrase of the evening: - The Soling is a easy boat to sail, a difficult boat to sail well - JW.

Many of the teams taking part at this NAs are preparing for the next Soling World Championship that will be held in Texas October of 2027.

Tomorrow the start will be later again 1100.
