1. Rules
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2 The prescriptions of the National Authority will not apply.
1.3 The ISA Championship Rules will apply.
1.4 Danish legislation requires every boat to be equipped with personal buoyancy for the number of persons on board at any time.
1.5 The following racing rules will be changed: 28.1, 32, 35, 42.3(c), 60.1(a), 62.2, 66, A4, and Race Signals AP and S. The changes will appear in full in the Sailing Instructions.
1.6 Amendments to any of the rules applying to the regatta must be approved and signed by the ISA Liaison Officer appointed for the event.

2. Advertising category
ISAF Regulation 20 will apply. Boats may be required to display bow numbers and advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.

3. Eligibility and entry
3.1 The regatta is open to all yachts of the International Soling Class as prescribed in Championship Rule 4 – Eligibility. The ISAF Eligibility Code, Regulation 19, will apply.
3.2 ISA Membership is obligatory for all crew members. Membership fees will be collected from any crew member failing to present proof of previously paid membership fee.
3.3 It is also required that all yachts entering display the ISA sticker for the current year. An additional amount will be collected from the helmsman or representative of any yacht not displaying the ISA sticker of the current year at the appropriate position.
3.4 Eligible boats may enter by completing the entry forms on the event website
(www.solingeuropeans.com) no later than 1 May 2012 and completing registration and payment of all fees.


4. Fees
The entry fee will be 525 Euros and may be paid by cash, internationally recognized credit card (VISA, Mastercard) and bank transfer. The entry fee includes ISA championship fee of €75, craning, berthing, camping and free car/trailer parking.

5. Schedule
5.1 Registration:
The Race Office at Kaløvig Sailing Centre will be open for registration on 9 June 2012 from 0900 to 1800 and 10 June 2012 from 0800 to 1300.
5.2 Measurement and Inspection will take place at Kaløvig Sailing Centre on 9 June 2012 from 0900 to 1800 and 10 June 2012 from 0800 to 1300.

5.4 The first warning signal each day will be at 1100. (Practice Race will be at 1400).
5.5 On the last day of the regatta no warning signal will be made after 1500.

6. Measurement
Yachts will be measured in accordance with ISA Championship Rule 7.0 Measuring and Class Rules 16 and 17. For a yacht to be eligible to race, her valid (the original or a copy of the original) Measurement Form shall be presented at the Race Office, and the helmsman must have satisfied all measurement and registration requirements as specified in this Notice of Race including the submission (at the completion of measurement) of properly completed measurement work sheets. If the Measurement Form cannot be produced before the first race, RRS 78.2 will be applied.

7. Sailing instructions
Sailing Instructions will be available at registration.

8. Course area
A chart showing the course areas is attached.


9. The courses
Standard ISA Championship courses will be used.

10. Penalty system
10.1 The Two-Turns Penalty, rule 44.2, will apply.
10.2 An International Jury will be appointed in accordance with RRS Appendix N. Their decisions will be final and not subject to appeal in accordance with RRS 70.5.

11. Scoring
11.1 The Low Points Scoring System of RRS A4 will apply.
11.2 9 races are scheduled of which 5 must be completed to constitute a valid championship.
11.3 a) When fewer than 6 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.
b) When 6 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

12. Prizes
Gold, silver and bronze medals for the overall series
Daily first prizes
Best placed boat build before 1 January 1980

The following are the trophies:
• The European Championship Perpetual Trophy - donated by the Royal Danish Yacht Club “with the intention of bringing together as many competitors of various nationalities as possible for yacht racing in a friendly spirit”.
• The Royal Yacht Club of Sweden has also donated a trophy for the European Champion.
• The BSA Young helm Trophy - donated by the British Soling Association and awarded to the best-placed helmsman aged 25 years or under on the first scheduled day of racing.
• Rien Segaar Trophy – donated by the Segaar Family (NED) with the intention to award those in the middle fleet who makes the best effort to improve their country scores. Awarded to the last of the best, the third team of a country which the aggregate final scores of the three best are lower than the other countries see Deed of gift at the ISA Championship Rules
• Reloaded Trophy – donated by the ASF (Norway) with the intention to bring as many women into the Soling competition - awarded to the best-placed woman in the event.

13. Disclaimer of liability
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

14. Insurance
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance cover while racing of not less than € 1,500,000 per event or the equivalent.
Sailing Aarhus will be able to offer third-party liability insurance during the event at an additional fee through our insurance partner Pantaenius Yacht Insurance Inc. The insurance can be bought at the Race Office during registration and must be fully paid up before 10 June 2012.
(The expected price for this insurance is below 100 Euro per boat).


15. Rights to use name and likeness
By participating in this event, competitors auto¬matically grant to the organizing authority and the event sponsors the right, in perpetuity, to make, use, and show, at their discretion, any photography, audio and video recordings, and other reproductions of them made at the venue or on the water from the time of their arrival at the venue, until their final departure, without compensation.

16. Cameras and electronic equipment
Boats may be required to carry cameras, sound equipment or positioning equipment as specified by the organizing authority.
