CAN 231 Kanter, Willain and Devries North American Champions

After the Saturday's night at the Hall's house over the Mont Real facing the St. Laurence river where the class had a great party, ski shots, hamburgers and sausages, lots of chatting the PRO managed to put in two more races in excellent but cold conditions at Montreal for the North American Championship, ending up in tuff competition.

The winds from South West and West with intensity of 13-17 knots, shifty, and with big holes, besides a natural stream from the St. Laurence river made the contest quite interesting.
The first race won by GER 1 over CAN 225, CAN 231 and CAN 1 compressed the top competitors a big fight for third place and just a point of difference for the championship title.

The second race with a bit more wind at the end was a constant change on leading positions but unbelievable was the battle in-between CAN 1 and CAN 231 which the last one being able to manage and dominate and even ending winning the last race to take the championship.
GER 1 close in the fight ripped the spinnaker in the first race and amazingly could continue sailing after with a quick fixing by the crew instead flying two kites. CAN 225 the host boat had done a fantastic job at the regatta either sailing or then organizing all the social in land.

Manfred Kanter, Anne Marie Willain and Gord Devries became the 2018 North American Champions with two curiosities, another mixed team to win the event, and Gord the name most engraved in the perpetual trophy ever, Congratulations Gord !!

The nest NA event will be held from August 8 to 11 of 2019 out of Kingston together with the CORK week, and the Canadian fleet promises to be big to host an amazing US fleet that made up to 1000Km on its way in to visit Montreal this time.
