Canadian Championship, RHYC Hamilton 1st Day

14 boats from USA, Canada and Germany found the way to Hamilton to fight it out: who will be Canadian champion.

Due to difficult weather situations for the following days, it was decided to have four races on the first day.
Cloudy weather, very choppy and difficult small waves plus winds from 10 to 20 knots from the East.
The wind was shifty and really hard to read, so some teams made good gains sailing extremely to one side, but mostly it was better to play the middle left or middle right.

Race 1
From the beginning on, CAN 225 dominated the fleet and took an easy bullet ahead of CAN 230 and CAN 210.

Race 2
A very close race. GER 1 was leading until 100 mts to the finish and CAN 230 passed and won ahead of CAN 210 leaving GER 1 in third. CAN 225 had a damaged lower shroud and missed the race to get a new one installed.

Race 3
Again a real hot fight and CAN 225 was back on the water and took the bullet ahead of CAN 231 and CAN 210... really close and like a match race.

Race 4
All sailors were already tired, but the fire was still on... CAN 231 and CAN 225 had a match race during the whole race, which finally was won by CAN 231 in an intense battle on the last meters over CAN 225.
Same match race behind between CAN 230 and GER 1, who finished third.

Tomorrow skippers meeting at 9 am, but it looks not such promising... we will see... stay tuned
