After a shifty and super strong winds on first racing day, the Race Committee headed by Bence Karpati went out to the Lake with already 12 to 15 knots coming from Southwest, it was a sunny day, super cold, the gusts reached 20 knots, making an unforgettable sailing day for the class.
While boats were sailing out the race office headed by Petra Koleda was already updating the results, after HUN 1 helmed by Sandor Varjas sailing with Gabor Meretei and Laszlo Kovasci retired from race no 1, an example of fair racing. While two more races were completed on this second day a pending protest still waits for a jury decision which might alter the scoring again.
With so many boats taking UFDs flags and without the possibility to finish or start a race, only 1/3 of the feet doesn't know yet which race will be their discard, all others already are looking forward completing 6 races to improve their scores.
The first race had team CARIOBA BRA 73 helmed by Kadu Bergenthal sailing with Vilnei Goldmeier and Edgar Oppitz had their best day so far achieving a bullet in the first race and a 2nd in the subsequent race, this kicked them up to third overall, and already paying off all the boat fixing they had to do after the practice race, then after the first racing day.
On their words “We could find the right gusts and set the boat for good speed, we just didn't won the last race of the day due to small detail allowing GER 339 take the lead, we are happy as sailing conditons where great and the after race needs no work to be done at the boat – Kadu”.
The Berliner team from YCBG GER 339 helmed by Donald Lippertt sailing with Tim Giesecke and Sven Rikwald kept their first overall after finishing third and then achieving another bullet, some kind controlling local hero team Process Solutions HUN 11 helmed by Litkey Farkas sailing with Karoly Vezer and Christoph Wossala who had a second and 3rd .
NOR 141 helmed by the young August Ausfjord sailing with Orjan Flo and Daniel Flo Fjaere keep their 4th overall and start to secure their Paul Elvstrom trophy to the best young driver since all other three contenders like GER 49, GER 77 or ITA 252 are 40+ points ahead.
UKR 1 helmed by Sergey Pichuguin sailing with Liubov Chunikhovska and Sergey Ivansits are also securing the Tony Clare trophy to be awarded to “Chuni” and with one bad and a good result consolidates the 6th overall for the event making 6 different countries at the top 6 and with ESP 14 helmed by Alfonso Colon sailing with Daniel Medina and Jose Martin placing the 10th overall there are 7 different countries at the top 10.
Today at the after race a prize giving ceremony for all four races already achieved .
Tomorrow two more races are scheduled at 10:00 and later the event dinner with the daily prize giving. If all goes well 2/3 of the fleet will be able to discard their worst result.
