In about 10 days, Yacht Club La Baule, France will be hosting the Soling European Championship being held within the Vintage Yachting Games (event for former Olympic classes).

The event despite promising always great sailing at the Atlantic Ocean, with wind, swell, big tides and great sea food in land for the competitors will see an unusual dispute for the European Title.

The defending champion NOR 131 Kristian Nergaard will race not only with the objective to retain the trophies, but also to recruit even more participation from France to attend the World Championship in Hanko next end of June where already more than 40 boats have done their entries.

The fight will be hard with two triple World Champions, team CAN 225 leaded by Peter Hall and team HUN 11 leaded by Litkey Farkas and if this was not enough FRA 198 leaded by another World and European Champion (1990) local sailor Marc Bouet, the titles doesn't stop there where Netherlands also send its representative NED 33 Rudy den Outer former North American Champion and VYG champion that for sure will be up to the task.

15+ entries are expected matching past Europeans participation or even better, but at this time the World Championship is also in Europe (Hanko, Norway), which drains out some competitors for sure, mainly due that both are big travel plans to participate.

The event will be a quite scene since being combined with the Vintage Yachting Games, other classes will present and experience the Soling performance through the swell and windy conditions.

Yacht Club La Baule is known by its reputation organizing sailing events, the competitors will experience the French hospitality but the tough competition each day. Backing the club there is always a group of French Soling members and friends, the ones that made the Worlds in 2019 quite successful.
