The French Open Championship was held at the Yacht Club La Baule the past days in conjunction with the classic Voiles de Legendes sailing week.
10 Solings accepted the challenge to sail at the same waters where Dragons & Classic boats yearly contest this traditional trophy, a show of French sailing tradition where the 2022 edition had 4 of Tabarly boats competing, the famous Pend Duicks.

Amongst the 9 French boats a Dutch team defending their title obtained in 2021, NED 33 with Rudy Den Outer, Theo de Lange and Bram Soethoudt. To the French fleet the incorporation of a new boat recently acquired, a boat built in 2007 in Argentina for a Swiss sailor now in hands of Yffic Nouvellon, besides them three different regions of France attended the event: Paris, Angers and La Baule a great work done by the class secretary in France Mr. Francois Gombeaud.

On Sunday the first day NED 33 ended the day leading the event with two bullets and a 4th place, followed by SUI 277 sailed by Yffic, Thomas and Joachim with partial results keeping a second, 4th and a bullet, and the surprise was the team from Angers FRA 188 sailed by Francois Xavier Denis, Vincent Manach and Stephanie Benon which started with a 4th and then obtained two seconds during that day. FRA 198 at this time leaded by Jean Marie Le Guillou, Etienne du Reau and Clement Rabreaud was not far in fourth with an impressive regularity keeping a third place in all three races of the day.

On Monday similar conditions for sail, unfortunately had a major event at the harbour where NED 33 suffered an accident on about to leave the harbor, the activity was paused and no racing happened this day, on the afternoon, Soling sailors had a dinner.

On Tuesday racing was resumed and three more races were sailed, this time only 9 boats were at the racecourse and SUI 277 with Yffic, Thomas and Joachim despite an over early (OCS) start on last race but two bullets in the earlier races of the day ended victorious by just a point ahead FRA 188 with Francois Xavier Denis, Vincent Manach and Stephanie Benon.

The dates at Yacht Club La Baule for the Soling class keeps consolidating and promises for the future great racing with enough wind, sand and sun at the Atlantic ocean
