Dear members,

This past summer we thought: we made it. Now, unfortunately, the corona pandemic continues this winter with again significant impact on our life: in private, business and our Soling Association.

We will therefore have to continue our plans in short term perspective.

In 2021, we had to postpone or cancel many of our planned regattas. For me personally the races that took place despite the adverse framework conditions were an enrichment and joy.
In the end, we are all happy that we were able to spend a reasonably beautiful year sailing and racing.
I want to thank all the helpers and supporters who made this possible in the executive clubs.

Here I would like to mention by name, Ludwig Beurle, Karl Haist, Mathias Dulce, Andrew Dize, Dave Baum, Kadu Bergenthal , Gustavo Geyer and Tomas Peuvrel who are the ones moving and organizing the events.

Special thanks to Alberto De Amicis, who managed to organize a European Championship on Lake Como in Italy within incredibly short time.

For the coming year, the focus on race events will be in Europe. The World Championship at Lake Chiemsee, Germany in May and the European Championship at Lake Attersee, Austria in August.

In North America, we have a new venue for the American Championship in San Diego.

Many regattas are already listed on our website and we will continuously update the site.
I look forward to seeing many of you again.

For our class it is important to be seen and noticed. Therefore I ask you to participate in as many regattas as possible to carry our spirit visibly to a greater public. In this context I also want to thank our class secretary Matias Collins who not only accompanies our website for the public to be informed about events etc. but also many other activities.

Another exciting topic for 2022 are new boats. We have found a new Soling builder, the German boatbuilder Peter Liebner. He is currently busy completing the first new Soling Model. I assume that we can present it at the World Cup at Lake Chiemsee.
This is also an important step into the future in order to remain attractive to other sailors.

I wish you all a happy new year.

Stay healthy.

Your Michael
