Dear Soling sailors and friends, once more we reach the last week of the year, family time, and the time to thanks the friendship the good moments, the good sailing when it happened, etc.
The Soling Class wishes you all a great holiday, we should celebrate being able to go thru the current difficult times.
Our 2021 sailing season and racing calendar was way much better than 2020, but still too far from being a great season, for two consecutive years we have missed our World Championship and the North American Championship, we are grateful that the Europeans and the South Americans went ahead.
We hope this is time to rest and enjoy, and start planning the 2022 season which the calendar is already posted and approved by World Sailing, despite some events are still missing.
Do not be afraid to plan, COVID will be around forever, but more and more we will learn to live with the one, and finally we will achieve a great sailing season again.

Best wishes from the class office and we forward the Championship Committee message:

The Championship Committee wishes all the Soling Family a Merry Christmas and a Happy Healthy New Year— with more racing than in 2021. Reports by scientists that Omicron virus milder is encouraging. We believe that the worlds and all three continental championships should take place. 2021 saw some good racing, renewed friendships, all in safe conditions outdoors at least two meters apart, even if not on starboard tack!!! More young sailors and more women participated in 2021.
The Organising Authority for the Chiemsee Worlds May 2-7 are working hard, including praying for warmer weather and some good winds for at least 35 participating teams. Enjoy your families, stay safe, and we all look forward to seeing each other sometime in 2022 as we learn to adapt to covid racing the Soling we love.

Happy Sailing days in 2022.

Peter Hall, Chair, Championship Committee.
