Wednesdays evening sailing in Rotterdam, Lake Kralingen, 23th of September 2020
In Rotterdam (Holland) on Lake Kralingne, every Wednesday evening are a lot of sailors busy with their sailing boats.
Several classes are present and of course many Soling sailors are also present at the KZC yacht club. Holland has had an Indian summer of 2 weeks, but just on Wednesday the Indian Summer was finished. Between rain showers the regatta was sailed. 2 short speed races were started, before the darkness was falling in. Light and frequently changing wind direction were the challenge for the Soling sailors.
The first start was a bit messy, because the O-jole and Laser yachts(ILCA), about 50 yachts, were also busy with preparing their start. Han van Veen with the pink Soling was pushed over the line and had to start again. But with a smart lap he finished in 3rd. With clever, tactic and technical very nice sailing Ben Boogaerdt with NED 37, won the first regatta. Ben was sailing with Gerben den Hartog and Ard Koorevaar. 2nd was Bram Soethoudt with NED 38. The second sprint was again for Ben Boogaerdt and his crew. 2nd Bram Soethoudt and 3rd Han van Veen.
After sail was of course very nice with ‘creative' stories and nice Dutch beer.
September 30th will be the last evening Regatta in Rotterdam. Who will become the Soling wed series champion for this year? We wait for you, probably being the country that more Soling racing had during 2020.
Stay safe, go sailing, come to Lake Kralingen.
