GER 339 crowned after 8 races at the Zipfer Trophy

The last two races to complete the series finally saw a light and shifty wind from the North a typical summer day at the Attersee with a shiny sun at the lake and too many clouds at the mountains, preventing the thermal breeze and therefore the rise of the Rosen wind.

Anyway, teams after 1hr waiting as an time extension for the typical weiss wurst breakfast at the UYCAs restaurant and or at the Zipfer beer tent were called to the water to race their 2 last races of the series.

The first of the race was the one with better winds during the day, and at the first windward mark GER 339 helmed by Donald Lippert sailing with Phyllis Lippert and Sven Rikwald rounded the mark first ahead AUT 117 helmed by Michael Farthofer sailing with Rudolph Matheis and Michael Mueller and behind it was USA 853 helmed by Matias Collins sailing with Andreas Baumueller and today Stephanie Breitenstein, but at the painful light air downwind GER 339 didn't see a fishermen's buoy and got stuck leaving the two boats behind to pass them, they released themselves seconds before Sven almost naked were ready to jump in the water.

USA 853 took the left gate while AUT 117 and GER 339 and HUN 1 helmed by Balazs Gyenese sailing with Csaba Adorjan and Gabor Meretei took the right. Behind USA 853 with some distance AUT 100 helmed by Chris Spiessberger sailing with Gerhard Schlipfinger and Max Reisinger. Neither team USA or HUN after a while believed their strategy, both tacking to each other's side of the racecourse. At the end AUT 100 hit the right corner to come hot in second, but again fighting against GER 339 it was time to benefit HUN 1 who jumped into second, leaving GER 339 the fourth place, with AUT 100 in third, HUN 1 in second and a bullet to the UYCAs boss.

The second race of the day had even less wind, a painful start , AUT 100 showed all their light wind skills and took home their bullet in a race that was shortened at the upwind, GER 11 helmed by Michael Dietzel sailing with Martin Zeileis and Hannes Ramoser where the followers, and the boss AUT 117 came in third to secure their second overall behind GER 339 but ahead of GER 77 helmed by Max Bergk sailing with Haggen Rueffert (Bolle) and Christopher Zeidler who sailed an excellent event despite finishing their worst race in 23 losing the tie with AUT 117.

The prize giving ceremony was wetted with Zipfer Beer and the restaurant of the UYCAs greeted the sailors with Flammkuchen.

The Soling activity continues next weekend with championships in Canada, Great Britain and Brazil
