55 years of the Erich Hirt Prize. The regatta at the Bavarian Yacht Club was first held in 1971 and was known then as the Soling Cup. Following the death of Erich Hirth (in a road traffic accident), the regatta was renamed the Erich Hirt Prize.
The event is renowned not only for the beautiful Bavarian Yacht Club that hosts it and the super escenary at the northern base of the German Alps, but also for the Soling Class celebration, which has been organized for many decades by the sailors itself of the Bavarian Yacht Club, in it our friends from Nueremberg that always are in charge of the barbecue (Thomas and Andi), grilling an authentic Nuremberg bratwurst, which it is enjoyed togehter with the typical Bavarian beer on tap, the Austrian friends (Ludwig) bring over the traditional dessert Kaiserschmarrn and later in the evening, cheese and wine in the centenary old dinghy hall, where many fall out and wait for the next day racing day without leaving.
Of course, there will also be sailing over the three days in which eight(8) races are scheduled from Friday to Sunday, many also will refresh themselves by swimming at the beautiful Starnbergsee either before or after racing.
The Bavarian Yacht Club looks forward to welcoming you and have released the Notice of Race, entry form and all documentation .
