A great regatta – the second Bellano Trophy - was held by The Circolo Velico Bellano, this edition already had an entry increase since first edition despite the defendant team could not attend.

The fleet, again international, had the newcomers British / Luxembourg team (LUX 1) leaded by Nigel Williams sailing with Francesco Vetroni and Tomaso Brusa, they had to use the former boat sail number ITA 233 as the boat just arrived into their hands.

On Saturday a beautiful day, great sunshine, light winds and quite shifty, three races were accomplished, ITA 241 with Pierluigi Puthod, Franco Borin and Gianluigi Rudoni took all three bullets home, finishing with a perfect score and leaving the rest of the teams grouped at distance. The podium was contested by ITA 289 with Marco Garrone, Francesco Garrone and Alessandro Trivelli being ahead ITA 252 with Alberto de Amicis, Marco de Amicis and Daniel Diesing.

On Sunday, even more sunny day, but with stronger and stablished winds, two races were finished, ITA 252 managed to have a good upwind rounding first at the first mark, then ITA 241 managed on the downwind to pass the excited team finishing again in first both races, but now the fleet was always much compacted, and positions disputed till the end. ITA 252 managed two seconds and ITA 238 with Giovanni di Vincenzo, Marco Ferrera and Gabriele Nuzzo improved considerably jumping ahead ITA 212 with Marco Colombo, Massimo Bonifaccio and Stefano del Parigi.

The Bellano Trophy this time had an innovation using self-positioned marks ( SEADIS – Faber Vlaggen) , that worked perfectly under the control of Race Officer – Mr. Merzario, pictures from the one provided by an astonished crew Daniel Diesing.

The regatta was won by ITA 241 followed by ITA 252 and ITA 289 , and therefore the names of Pierluigi, Franco and Gianluigi to be engraved in the perpetual trophy the winners of the second edition of the Trophy.

After the regatta during the prize giving refreshments were served in time manner so every one could get back home to watch the football game.

The next event in Italy, to be held during September, the European Championship at Modello del Lario, yacht club that already received a Soling for a member. ( www.solingeuropeans.com )
