Notice of Race
Severn Sailing Association

October 19-20, 2019

1 Organizing Authority
The Organizing Authority is the Severn Sailing Association in Cooperation with the United States Soling Association (USSA) and the Chesapeake Soling Fleet.

2 Rules
The event will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) and the Severn Sailing Association Sailing Instructions (SSA SIs) and as amended by the SSA Sailing Instructions and this NOR that will address scoring and racing schedule. All racing will be fleet racing.

3 Advertising
No Specific Requirements.

4 Eligibility and Entry
4.1 The regatta is open to all yachts declared eligible by the USSA, CISA or their national Soling association. All skippers and crew must be 2018 members of the USSA, CISA, or the ISA. USSA membership application may completed at http://www.ussoling.com
4.2 All yachts entering the regatta shall display the ISA sticker for the current year.

5 Schedule of Events
5.1 On-site registration and payment is encouraged on-line at the Severn Sailing Association website www.severnsailing.org.
Registration will also be available at the Severn Sailing Association (SSA) on Saturday, October 20 (see Andy Dize).
5.2 Competitor's meeting will be held at 0930 on Saturday, October 20, 2018 on the Club House steps.
5.3 Fleet Racing:
3 races Saturday October 19, warning signal at 1100;
2 races Sunday October 20, warning signal at 1100; no warning signals shall be given after 1430
5.4 The regatta will be declared official if four races are completed. A one (1) race throw-out will be employed in the scoring if five or more races are completed.
5.4 No more than one race will be started on Saturday October 19 in addition to the schedule listed above if determined necessary to accomplish the number of races required to reach the four and five race thresholds.

6 Registration/Entry Fee
The entry fee is $125 USD.
The entry fee includes trophies, post-race beer each day, oysters on Saturday, and launching and trailer storage during the event.

7 Measurement and Safety
No boats or sails will be measured. Random inspections for class safety rules may be conducted at any time during the regatta by the PRO.

8 Liability
The organizing authorities and/or any part, person involved in the regatta, will accept no liability and responsibility for any personal or material damage sustained prior to, during, or after the regatta. Each boat shall carry a minimum of $300,000.00 USD liability insurance.

9 Sailing Instructions
The standard Severn Sailing Association Sailing Instructions shall apply as amended for scoring and schedule. The Sailing Instructions are available at registration and online at www.severnsailing.org.

Notices: Notices to competitors will be posted on the SSA race notice board by 0900 each day.

10 Regatta Site
The regatta site is the Severn Sailing Association, 311 First St., Annapolis MD. Telephone (410) 268-8744. Directions to Severn Sailing Association are available at the club website: www.severnsailing.org.

11 Racing Areas
The racing area shall be ESE of the mouth of the Severn River, in the Chesapeake Bay, as indicated in the SSA Sailing Instructions.

12 Courses
The course may be windward-leeward as shown in the Standard SSA Sailing Instructions. However, the courses and sailing of courses will be as defined on the water as listed in the standard SSA standard sailing instructions (SI's).

13 Scoring
The low point scoring system, RRS Appendix A2 scoring system will apply. There are 5 races scheduled. Four races completed shall constitute a regatta. If 5 races are completed, each boat's series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst finish.

14 Penalties
RRS Rule 44 applies.

15 Prizes
Prizes will be awarded to each crew member placing first, second, and third in the regatta.

16 Additional Information
Lunches and breakfasts may be available at the SSA Snack Bar. Further info will be provided.

17 Lodging
Lodging with local sailors is available on a limited first come, first serve basis, or at the following local hotels.
