Difficult shifty westerly at Kingston bay

Winds with different velocities from 12 to 17 knots coming from 320 nicely hiking mode, flat water the Soling North American Championship started at 1100 in a champagne mode with sun shining and the whole fleet crossing the Kingston bay looking after the orange mark 1 placed just in front the Lake Ontario park.

It was a difficult first race, from middle leg on the left paid big, but CAN 1 with Abbott, Davis, Abbott were right on spot rounding the windward mark first, and not letting the lead go all over the race. NED 33 den Outer, de Lange and Bosch didn’t resign and rounded second also keeping CAN 210 Finch, de Vries and Findlater behind.

The second race with already more to the left had as protagonist CAN 225 Hall, Hall and McNeil leading the fleet from the start to the end despite all attempts from CAN 1 to take a good line and manage to pass him during the wind lows. GER 1 with Koch, Kling and Neun managed a good race finishing just behind the leaders.

Again, the wind went to left and now course was at 290, it got stronger and stronger before the storm came in just around the first boats have finished. CAN 225 again had perfect lines, mostly at the left side, rounding first and not losing the lead, NED 33 again nailed a second enough to keep them ahead the second place overall over CAN 1 who finished third.

Tomorrow two more races are scheduled again for 1100hs which would conclude the Soling return at the CORK week with its North American Championship. A nice battle amongst the three first are expected with only 5 points difference amongst them.
