NOTICE OF RACE


THE SOLING MASTER WORLD - CHAMPIONSHIP 2006 and the Zipfer Trophy 2006
will take place at Union-Yacht-Club Attersee, Austria
from Thursday, 31 August to Sunday, 3 September, 2006

Organising authority
The organising authority is the International Soling Class (ISA) in conjunction with the Union-Yacht-Club Attersee, the Austrian Soling Association and the Austrian Sailing Federation.

1. Rules
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2 The prescriptions of the Austrian Sailing Federation will not apply.
1.3 The ISA Championship Rules will apply.
1.4 The following racing rules will be changed: 28.1, 32, 35, 42.3(c), 60.1(a), 61.3, 62.2, A4.1, A4.2 and Race Signals AP and S. The changes will appear in full in the Sailing Instructions.
1.5 Amendments to any of the rules applying to the regatta must be approved and signed by the ISA Liaison Officer appointed for the event.

2. Advertising category
The regatta is designated Category C under ISAF Regulation 20.
Yachts may be required to display a bow number and the advertising of the event sponsor on either side on the forward 20% of the hull.

3. Eligibility and entry
3.1 The Master World Championship is open to all yachts of the International Soling Class as prescribed in Championship Rule 4 – Eligibility. The helmsman who must be at least 50 years of age, and the combined age of the crew of three must be at least 120 years of age before the end of 2006.
The Zipfer Trophy is open to all yachts of the International Soling Class as prescribed in Championship Rule 4 – Eligibility without any limitation of age of competitors. The Zipfer Trophy can be sailed with a crew of 3 or 2 persons.
3.2 ISA Membership is obligatory for all crew members. Membership fees will be collected from any crew member failing to present proof of previously paid membership fee.
3.3 It is also required that all yachts entering display the ISA sticker for the current year. An additional amount will be collected from the helmsman or representative of any yacht not displaying the ISA sticker of the current year at the appropriate position.
3.4 Eligible boats may enter by completing the entry forms on the event (www.uycas.at) no later than 10 August 2006 or sending their entry by mail to

3.5 Minimum Number of Entries: 15 boats at entry close.
3.6 Late entries can be accepted up to the end of registration.

4. Classification
The ISAF Sailor Classification Code will apply.

5. Fees
For the Masters World Championship the entry fee will be EUR 350 per boat (includes the Zipfer Trophy) plus GBP 35 (the ISA championship due).
For the Zipfer Trophy the entry fee will be EUR 175 per boat.

All banks charges are to be covered by the competitor.
For the Zipfer Trophy the entry fee is also payable at the registration.
The entry fee includes social events, mooring, craning in and craning out before and after the Championship.

6. Registration
Each crew shall provide at the Registration Office:
- Race Licence (if any provided by the National Authority)
- Confirmation/written proof of third party liability insurance of EUR 1.500.000.
- Measurement Certificate of the yacht.
- Membership card of their national federation.
Sailing Instructions will be available upon registration.
The Race Office at Union-Yacht-Club Attersee will be open for registration on
Wednesday 30 August 10.00 am to 12.00 am and 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm and
Thursday 31 August 9.00 am to 12.00 am.

7. Schedule
7.1 Measurement and inspection will take place at Union-Yacht-Club Attersee on
Wednesday 30 August 10.00 am to 12.00 am and 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm and
Thursday 31 August 9.00 am to 12.00 am.
7.2 The warning signal of the first race will be on Thursday 31 August 2006, 2.00 pm.
The time of the first warning signal of the first race on following days will be posted on the Official Notice Board not later than 19:00 p.m. on the preceding day. The second races of the day will be started after the finishing of the first one. The warning signal on the last day of racing will be given no later than 15:00 hours.
7.3 Craning in will take place on
Wednesday 30 August 10.00 am to 12.00 am and 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm and
Thursday 31 August 9.00 am to 12.00 am.
All boats have to be in the water by Thursday 31 August 12.00

8. Measurement (Master Word Championship only)
Yachts will be measured in accordance with ISA Championship Rule 7.0 Measuring and Class Rules 16 and 17. For a yacht to be eligible to race, her valid (the original or a copy of the original) Measurement Form shall be presented at the Race Office, and the helmsman must have satisfied all measurement and registration requirements as specified in this Notice of Race including the submission (at the completion of measurement) of properly completed measurement work sheets. If the Measurement Form cannot be produced before the first race, RRS 78.2 will be applied.

9. Sailing instructions
Sailing Instructions will be available at registration.

10. Course area
The course area will be on Lake Attersee

11. The courses
Standard ISA Championship courses will be used.

12. Penalty system
12.1 The Two-Turns Penalty, rule 44.2, will apply.

13. Scoring
13.1 The Low Points Scoring System of RRS A4 will apply.
13.2 6 races are scheduled of which 5 must be completed to constitute a valid championship. 2 races must be completed to constitute a valid Zipfer Trophy.
13.3 a) When fewer than 6 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.
b) When 6 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

14. Prize14.1 The winner of the Championship will obtain the title “Masters-Champion 2006 of the International Soling Class”.
14.2 The best three scoring boats of the Masters Worlds will receive medals of the Soling Masters Championship
14.3 Point prizes will be awarded to the best six scored of the boats of the Masters Worlds.
14.4 Point prizes will be awarded to the best six scored of the boats of the Zipfer Trophy.
14.5 Keepsake gifts for all participants.

15. Disclaimer of liability
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

16. Insurance
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance cover while racing of not less than EUR 1.500.000 for the duration of the regatta.

17. Social events:
Thursday 31 August 10.00 am: Opening
Thursday 31 August 2006: Après race event
Friday 1 September 2006: Visit to Zipfer Brewery and a dinner there
Saturday 2 September 2006: Dinner
Prize giving as soon as possible after the last race.
