This past weekend the RYC (Rio Yacht Club celebrated their 110 anniversary with a single race and a big party, where 6 Solings, 4 from the local club, one from the ICRJ , and one from Iate Clube Brasileiro (oldest yacht club in Brazil).

The Yacht club located at Niter¾i city on the Northern east part of the Guanabara Bay and the home for famous past and current worldwide sailors who shaped the Brazilian sailing history at decades of 60', 70' and 80's.

Amongst a big fleet of ocean racers varying from 22' to 55' footers the Solings raced at the Group 2 that also include Classics, other Invited Classes and the RGS (Brazilian rule like IRC and ORC) , they were a big fleet therefore ended up being scored separately but amongst this group of about 30 boats, the best Soling at the race course BRA 10 leaded by Paulo Kopschitz managed to winning his separate category and also finishing at third on the whole fleet winning from several boats with 30+ feet. As an interesting fact the just behind him was a J24 class boat skippered by a former Soling sailor Ronaldo Senfft, followed by two other Solings BRA 8 leaded by Colin Gomm and BRA 15 (world champion boat at Rio back at 1978) with Sergio Wagner.
That was the first time they have so many boats on the water from a long period showing the a good regrowth of the class locally.

The Solings separate results are found below, the ISA congratulates the RYC for its 110 anniversary and Soling heritage, and part of the celebration, this past week the class office has uploaded many past results held at the Rio de Janeiro region, from past Brazilian championships, to Sailing weeks where the RYC took important roles either participating at the events or organizing it.
