A training weekend was organized at Hellevoetsluis past July 20 and 21.
Four Soling teams were present. On the first day which started quite rainy, it meant that on the Spartivento (big Dutch barge where everyone was allowed to spend the night again) there was time to drink coffee and make plans for the day.
Two new enthusiasts were also present, both because they want to purchase a Soling together. This was a perfect opportunity to get them acquainted with the beautiful Soling and our club. The boats were launched and then a lot of time was spent on practicing boat handling on the Haringvliet. The day ended with a joint dinner in Hellevoetsluis and afterwards everyone went to his bunk tired but satisfied.

The next morning there was breakfast together at 8 am, because at 8.30 am our new European champion Gabor Helmhout came to give a training. First he explained about trimming the sails and the mast. Afterwards the team went on the water at 10 am to put the theory into practice. Gabor guided the boats in a rib and gave very useful and practical instructions on the water for each boat, most of which yielded immediate results.

At 12 there was a lunch at the Spartivento and the training was evaluated. It was an added value for everyone and the advice is taken to heart. In the afternoon it was great sailing weather and everyone went on the water again, to be able to practice even further with the instructions.

Hopefully we can already see the first results during the ONK and the World Cup!
